The New Group’s off-Broadway production of Blood From a Stone, starring Ethan Hawke, has rescheduled its opening night to January 12, 2011. Tommy Nohilly's new play play was scheduled to open on January 6, having begun previews on December 13. The reason for the shift, according to director Scott Elliot, is to allow time to incorporate changes made during the rehearsal and preview process.
An unflinching and darkly comic depiction of life in blue collar Connecticut, Blood From a Stone zeroes in on a working class family wrestling to keep it together. When Travis (Hawke) pays a visit to his parents' home, he finds an already volatile household imploding and his close-knit but deeply conflicted family teetering on the brink.
In addition to Hawke, the cast of Blood From a Stone includes Natasha Lyonne, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Thomas Guiry, Ann Dowd and Gordon Clapp. The play is currently running at the Acorn Theatre on Theatre Row.
